Feeling Imam Mahdi's (aj) Pain
Transcript
One must not only feel the pain and sorrow for the tribulations of Sayyid al Shuhada (as)
but also for the Wali of our time (atfs).
Every infallible underwent the most difficult hardships during his time
and currently, Imam Zaman (atfs) is dealing with the heaviest of afflictions.
Let us not think that the period of occultation is a time when the Imam (atfs) takes a break,
he is sitting in the corner and enjoying his time.
The heaviest of ordeals are upon the shoulders of the Hujjah of God (atfs).
In Dua Nudba, there is a line you may be familiar with “Aeezun a’layya an tuheeta bika duniya
albalwaa” (It is difficult for me that the ordeals have afflicted you and not me.)
What do we know about the sufferings of the Imam (atfs)?
Sometimes we listen or watch the news about tragedies for instance when innocent children in their
parents’ arms with blown off limbs their mouths filled with sand due to being buried under rubble and
then carried out.
A person who is very sympathetic and hears about such a news may have difficulty falling
asleep at night, especially some mothers when they see these children they really experience the pain.
Now, you and I, when were hear a couple of these tragedies we become so saddened.
Imam Zaman (atfs), with his compassionate and merciful heart, who’s kindness is unmatched
has knowledge about all the tragedies throughout history.
You and I know only of a few of these stories and don’t know about the rest.
Many injustices are happening in the world now that we may not be aware of.
However, the Holy Imam (atfs) is aware of all the injustices that happen in the world.
Not only 1 or 2 years but centuries have passed! His compassionate and kind heart!
How much pain does he experience when he hears and sees the injustices
while his hands are tied because it is not time for his reappearance? He has to see that and
endure these struggles.
We must also feel the pain and sorrow Imam Zaman (atfs) is experiencing
and not only the pain of Ashura and that of the Masoomeen (as) who are not with us.
We must share the pain of this Masoom Wali (Imam Mahdi (atfs)) is experiencing.
God is my witness, sometimes when I reach these lines in the Ziyarahs of Imam Hussein (as)
where it says “ya laytani kuntum ma’ak” (oh if I were with you),
I think about what if Imam Hussein (as) responded to me and said “You are with a Hussein (as)
now, Imam Mahdi (atfs).
What are you doing with this Hussein (as)? How much are you helping him?
How frequently do you think about him? If you were with me on the day of Ashura,
perhaps you would treat me the same way and not remember me.
Embrace the Imam of this time and feel his pain”
We should take the pain away from them and say “Ya Sahib al Zaman (atfs),
give me some of your pain so I won’t be indifferent and feel the time of your occultation.
I don’t want your absence to become ordinary.”
Now unfortunately the absence of Imam Zaman (atfs) for some Shias has become normal and for many
of them it is not very important. They are living their lives. If they have a shar’i question they will ask
a scholar or turn to the risalah of their Marja.
They also attend majalis and cry and pray during Aza.
They also attend the celebratory occasions of the masoomeen (as). Their deen is taken care of
and they handle their other worldly affairs as well. They are not missing anything. There is no
pain.
This is very bad. May God forbid we think this way and forget there is something missing in this
world.
That missing part is the essence and that is the reappearance of the Imam (atfs).
We should feel his pain. I swear to God sharing the pain of Masoom (as), the Wali of God, is
better than 100 remedies.
